I’m just a female human muddling through this big world. I was born in 1957, a child of Hungarian refugees of the Hungarian Revolution. Both of my parents had to escape the country – my mother because of her involvement with the underground freedom fighters, and my father because of his hatred of communism and not wanting to be a soldier for them. My parents met in a refugee camp in Austria, got married in England, and I was born in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
My parents divorced while I was an infant and I never met my father until I was 13 years old. I got to spend a few summers with him and his new family in British Columbia, lived there for a year, and then returned to Toronto.
I did not have the traditional upbringing as I grew up with my mother, and my grandmother was brought out from Hungary to help look after me while my mother worked two jobs. As I was their only child, I spent a lot of time alone. We moved on an average of once per year and new schools every year. I was the typical “new kid” every year. Needless to say, I never had close friends or other family. I basically raised myself and learned to fend for myself without ever depending on a family member. I can honestly say there wasn’t a lot of love in our family and I never believed love was real other than in a writer’s imagination or the movies. Of course this changed when I met the love of my life and soulmate.
I am a total geek/nerd. I grew up on Star Trek and any science fiction I could grab my hands on. I always found school boring and not my thing. I used to skip school a lot and would spend my days at the Ontario Science Centre where I learned more than I could ever learn in school. Everything I learned in life, I learned basically on my own and on the street. During my first year of high school, I also went to night school to learn computers back in 1972. I ended up quitting school after that and started working full time in a computer room just shy of my 16th birthday.
I did end up finishing high school later on at a community college. I only took one university class on Ancient Astronomy. I have had a variety of different jobs, from Telephone Operator, Corrosion Technician, tried factory work and secretarial (not my cup of tea), Computer Operator, and Computer Operations Analyst for a Telecommunication Company. After my recovery from a major car accident in 1998, I went back to school for 3 years to study as an Alternative Healthcare Practitioner. During my final exams, my Fibromyalgia came out of remission and I had to leave school and go on disability.
I have written poetry and short stories most of my life which allowed me to express my feelings and I hope to share these with everyone. My personal life would create a book with many volumes so I’ll leave that out of this page. I hope you all enjoy my work and my ramblings. Life is too short to not enjoy it.
I’m hoping that some of my life experiences will help someone to find and hold the love they desire.
Smile and enjoy,
Norah
